no reverse

yes im having a problem with my truck when I throw it into reverse rpm's lug down and the truck shuts off but once in drive its fine. Only in reverse does it shut off.

so what im asking is some ideas on what the problem might be? Iv heard that it may be the trans pump but not sure yet.So im trying to get as many options so I can try everything to get it fixed.

Drop your pan and change filter and fluid. Filter could be clogged or fell out.

so it could be turning off only in reverse because of the filter? I don't get how it wouldn't just work all together?
