Humming from 34 mph to 40-50? Torque Converter?

Well, I got this humming noise that comes on almost rigth at 34 mph. As I accelerate it seems to stop at 40-45 depending on conditions as the torque converter engages and rpms drop and it goes away? Is the humming from the torque converter? Is that normal? What could that mean? Also, how much does a new torque converter cost?

Check u-joints and your center support bearing for your driveshaft for excessive play. The same thing happened to be and it ended up being a u-joint.
