trans temp question
I normally see 140 max as a trans temp when I am really getting on it. until the other day I seen 190 I noticed I had a trans leak and I was low on fluid. Ambient temps were around 75.
now I fixed it and did a full trans flush and I am now seeing 150-160 at all times. What could cause this? a different grade of trans fluid used? I used valvoline mercon dextron it said it was compatible. I have a 6oh cooler and a b&m trans pan. |

Dirty cooler maybe?

internally dirty? or externally? I checked all the cooler lines and they were all hot so fluid was flowing it wasnt going through the bypass tube.
how would I clean it? |

I'm thinking externally dirty, just throwing ideas out. Trans flush, is that a good thing. I hear some guys say that old deposits can collect in the TC and when flushed it relocates itself in the trans and cooler lines.

well I call it a flush it is really just a draining of the pan and lines then I refill it. I guess I will take a shop vac and clean it out.

I just cleaned out my cooler and refiled it and it was still at 150 after sitting for an hour I think it is that stupid bypass tube that serves a good purpose until it gets stuck

Another dumb question to add after doing some reading I noticed that somepeople say use mercon/detron III only. I used a fluid that was mercon dextron compatible, am I ok with that? it said on the back it was good for any mercon rating.

Spoke to brian and he said the fluid us fine but I still don't get the temps. In my opinion my TC is blown again. So 2 BTS trans' in 18 months and I baby my truck???

my truck when i just drive around town my edge evo started flashing trans over heat at 200 but when i looked at my stock temp it was on the cool side i just changed the fluid and filter but my ? is dosent the evo read off the same sensor as the stock gauge if so why dont they read the same?? fast response please gettin ready to take a 15hr trip on thurs
