Dip stick Shakes in phases

So as some of you may know from previous posts my transmission has been acting up. I had it scanned the other day and and threw a solenoid code wich sometimes sets the O/D light off. anyway. it still shifts and rives fine and when the light does go off i just restart the truck and its back to normal. today i was jumping my friends truck and when i had the hood open the dip stick and tube seemed to bee vibrating very harshly then it would be still then go back to shaking alot. could this be a sign of somthing? If im going to get somthing fixed on the trans im going to do a total rebuild because it has 180,000 miles on it and i would rather spend all the money at once instead of spending more dealing with one issue at a time. any ways. what could be cause the tube to shake like that? i dont notice the truck shaking. also what can i listen for that will tell me if my trans is breaking down.

thanks
Will

Mine shakes like that, as matter of fact when I flushed trans a couple weeks ago when add fluid I found out it was broke or cracked. Got new one, guess what I'll be doing this weekend.

Not sure what the shaking is? I will look at mine next time I crank it up and see if I have the same situation.

My filler tube id cracked/broken too. Looks like it was shoved out of the way to make room for the 4" exhaust. I just use an acrylic tube when I fill it to get past the "bad" place.
