4R100 Information needed - a quick question

I had a bad case of TC chatter today. Checked the fluid and don't like the color or smell. Will get the trannie serviced tomorrow at Ford.

Question - does this tranny have a filter? Secondly - is there a way to drain the TC to make sure all the old fluid is out?

Plan to have if filled with the new Mercon and friction modifier.

Yes, trans has an internal filter. Some converters have the drain plug, most do not. You can remove the rubber plug in the front of the trans and rotate the tc with a screwdriver and see if it has a plug.
