Funky shifting after Tw/Ts chip install?

02 7.3 with 150k miles on her, in between 2nd and 3rd she revs up to 3k rpms and I hav to let off gas for her to shift, does this on econo and daily modes of chip. Kinda scared to put her in the street/extreme modes. Switched back to stock mode and she shifts fine. Is this a case of it wasnt broken i shouldnt have tried to fix it? Was just lookin for a little more power... Ok let me have it....
