wont shift out of first????

just started yesterday. starts up fine but when you get going it wont shift out of first. i can sit there and redline it, and let off to try to get it to shift but it still wont. any ideas????

Check your shift linkage. Could of gotten messed up an goes into first instead of drive. Just a thought I have seen it happen.

Nope checked that. Fluids good too. Even took out my tw chip just to see. Still wont get out of first.

It's probably your second gear planetaries. That's what happened to me. That is a weak link in our factory trans. Mine would eventually slam into 3rd though.

Might want to pull your pan and see if there is any metal. I had big chunks of metal in mine.

If you redline it then let off the gas and then back on easy, does it shift to 3rd??

I did't see the year of the truck, it may be a broken 2nd sprag or stuck 1-2 shift valve.

i removed my tw chip and took it to a shop today. they said that there was a blown fuse and their computer can read anything because of the chip i had in it. they can shift the truck with their computer, so is not a problem with the tranny. they said its gonna cost me 160bucks to rewright the computer on the truck
