wont shift out of 2nd

the trans has about 20k on a rebuild fluid is where it should be. it shifts from 1st to 2nd fine but wont shift out of 2nd. whenever you get in it from a stop you can feel a slight shudder before it starts to move. all this started out of know where. any ideas would be much appreciated..

If you get it fast enough, it should shift to 4th but it will feel like 3rd then no 4th. Does reverse work ok?? Reverse uses the same clutch pack as 3rd.

My 95 that I had did the same thing. Remove the PRNDL switch from the drivers side of the trans (what your linkage is hooked to) and check for any cracks on the back side. Mine started acting up after I drove through a puddle. Ended up finding the PRNDL switch cracked and it shorted out keeping it from shifting. Spent $83 on a switch and was all good.

There's agood chance the switch is the problem. If the computer thinks the shifter is in manual low, thenit won't shift.

ok i checked the neuttral saftey switch and that wasnt it. i got a chance to put the modis scanner at work on it and while driving it shows all the solenoids work 1st-4th. is there anything else that it could be or is the tranny junk.

If the computer is commanding all the gears, then it's an internal problem.
