Question Best for me?

Hey everyone love the site very helpful. I've got a Late 99 F250 with an automatic transmission (4R100). First my problem then my question. Like many others I have read that have my truck I also have the loud rattling noise from under my truck. I have heard it was the TC and some lube shop said it sounds like the turbo but i will leave it in your hands. About a week ago like any normal day I put my truck into reverse and it wouldn't lock in i would have to give it a lil persuasion to get it to move. Next thing you know it has trouble shifting into 3rd. The problem only happens after I run it a little with my chip on. "6 position by superchip" Now I leave the chip off and putt putt every where I go and it works fine but I hate having the power just sleeping in my truck and not using it. Now my question, how would I be better off? Getting a triple disc TC or just saving up for an upgraded transmission? I have the chip K&N cold air intake and 4" magnaflow exhaust. Want to fix this problem before I work on more engine mods. Ex. injectors fuel system etc. Thanks for any help.

In every gear, there are at least 2 things holding ( clutch pack, band, sprag). If you have problem with 3rd and rev both, the direct(3rd) is also the reverse pack. You're on borrowed time.

Get a new one. Dont change parts here and there especially with 200,000 miles. Look into BTS Transmissions. They build the best 4r100 out there today and ther arent too far from you . They are in North Arkansas.
