Torque converter?

What are the symtoms of needing a torque converter? I can hear a funny rattling noise that almost sounds like an exhaust leak (not leak new International up-pipes) just off of idle pulling out, when the trannie is hot I can hear a sound like this at idle under the truck but faint, also when in overdrive and at a slow speed the truck seems to shift erratically going up and down about 1000 rpms like it cn't decide what gear to be in only if I lug it around. If I make it go on it will come out of this though. It will only do this when I have driven it awhile and is totally up to temp for a while.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Adrian

The rattling noise is a classic sympton of the dual clutch converter going bad.
