Hi All,
I have been lurking around here for a while, and now I need some advice. I have been on the hunt for a 99-02 7.3 with a 6 speed ever since i sold my 94.5 f350 5-speed truck. I live up in VT and everything is rusted out here so I have been searching down south and out west. I finally found a really clean late 99 that is exactly what I am looking for, it is very clean and has relatively low miles. I am flying down to look at it this weekend, and hopefully buy it and drive it home.
Here is the problem: apparently the clutch pedal sits and engages very high. The current owner has driven it 8000 miles since the problem started and nothing has changed. He sent me some pictures and it looks like the clutch sits so high that it almost (or actually does) hit the dash.
He claims that the engagement point is also very high. The clutch was replaced withing the last 10000 miles by a decent truck shop, so I think the issue must be with the master and/or slave. I know those plastic clips are prone to breaking and making the pedal sit low, but I haven't heard of an extremely high pedal that still actually engages the clutch. Is there something in the master that can break and let the pedal sit way to far out? I am hoping I can get the $150 master/slave assembly and that will fix the problem. Does anyone have any input for me? I was able to negociate the price down quite a bit because of this problem, and I am not scared of doing any mechanical work as long as the truck has a clean body.
Thanks in advance, sorry for the long-winded post.
