found the clip broke that holds the clutch rod to the clutch master
than the piston poped out of the master when I was trying to get the clip out...time for a new master
any I ideas where to find one cheap?
I found the master, line, slave for $180 at napa.

Unless they're different it's a "one piece" unit on the '97 and older. Once I got it and looked at it you might be able to re-use individual pieces but I couldn't find anybody that'd sell the master/slave individually.

EDIT: FWIW I put the NAPA system in my truck and it's worked well for about 10k until I shucked the gearbox last week.

Me too

Same thing happened on my 99 SD. I used a short length of small chain to fix.
I don't have any pictures. I ran about 3 inches of S-chain from the bottom of the large pedal return spring to a 1/8 inch hole I drilled in the alum. pedal support bracket. I put on a short spring to pull the chain up out of the way. Works great for 30,000 so far. Didn't want to replace an OEM master cylinder with 40,000 on it.
