By-pass filter

Here is the problem I just put a bypass filter on for the tranny and it has a service guage on it the problem is I started the truck to look for leaks and the guage said to service the filter I checked all the lines and they are goin the right way and I changed the filter in the pan about 9 months ago could it be plugged and the bypass filter is sayin it's plugged? The lines don't seem to be kinked.
