parking brake leaking?
My carrier bearing popped, alot of vibrations so I idle into a parking lot. Im no mechanic but I get it done with a ham/chisel. A day later I peek under there and the bottom of the park drum there is wet, wiped the drip it was back in maybe an hour. I think its coming from whatever piece is in front of the drum? Is that a separate chamber from the tranny, because my fluid level shows ok. Part# is 6051001042. Just want to make sure before I start pulling bolts and squirting fluid.
Ive been down twice in two weeks, the carrier bearing and then a vac pump, third times not a charm! Thanks in advance |

The parking brake shouldn't have any fluid. It's a cable/lever system that pushes the shoes out against the drum.
Are you sure your axle seal isn't leaking? Just a thought.... |

Im pretty sure its leaking from the unit in between the tranny and the parking drum. It looks like its leaking into the drum then just running down. I havent a clue what that unit does, but I want to top it off for now so it doesnt burn out, and ill fix the seal when I get a nice light day, this truck works hard every day. E450 16' box love it!
