Which trans oil to use?

Alright guys, I have read threads about which oil to put in my trans. I have read Dextron/ Mercon III, some say MerconV. Which ATF should be used in my trans? I changed my oil and refilled with Dextron/ Mercon III. Any help will be helpful.

AMSOIL - Synthetic Universal Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF)

There is a Ford TSB that states that there is a change in the recommended fluid . From Mercon III to Mercon V. Not sure which years , but I think its the early 2000 to present. I use Royal Purple Sythetic ATF.

I am changing the filter and fluid in my 2002 7.2 4r100 and called Brian's Truck Shop. For a mostly stock (chip/intake/exaughst) he said "any mercon or dextron 3 non synthetic atf" and would not specify a brand.

I know this is an old post but since I was long here for advice I figure I would update it.

I was gonna use mobil 1 synthetic but it has changed formula and that's what got me looking.

Ur safe to use Amsoil ATF as posted above.. insure there are others, but I'm just suggesting what I use.
