HOT Tranny

Advice needed........

Tranny temps are elevated. 180 on the way home today. Saw 195 this weekend pulling an empty 2000 lb. trailer and some ATF came out of the vent I guess. It was all over the trailer. Fluid level seems OK. Going to call the rebuilder tomorrow, but wondered what else I could look at tonight?

I want to mention that since I found out that my under valve cover harness came unplugged and I fixed that, the go pedal is real touchy. Hard to ease up to the trailer when hooking up. Wants to JUMP.

Think it could have anything to do with my TW chip?

Tranny rebuilt this past winter. This is the first hot weather I have driven it in.

did you upgrade the transmission? if so how?

what about a bigger cooler? the stock cooler is a joke..

i doubt it could be the TW chip... it raises line pressure so that your TC does not slip... gen its the slipping TC that causes heat

yeah, if you're running through the stock cooler, remember that stock cooler is inside the radiator, so whatever you're seeing for water temps is probably the same for your trans fluid.

I have a stock cooler but I do have tranny temp gauge. It ran 150 or so this past winter. With the warmer weather it jumps to 180 with a little load and then 195 with the trailer this past weekend.

I'll be calling the shop in the morning.
