Tranny Puking Fluid

Alright guys my tranny overheated the other day and puked fluid all down I-75. Well that resulted in a 90mi tow home and $350. So now the shop has looked at it and said the tranny is fine it all looks good. They refilled it and drove it 3x then I drove it and it puked again its coming out right where the tranny mounts to the engine.

A friend of mine said he had the same problem and it was his Torque Converter Seals. He replaced them and hasnt had a problem yet.

Does this sound like the same thing? Also if it is what parts do I need to buy and what other seals should i change while in there?

Thanks

Now would the tranny fluid still smell burnt a little, I did still drive for a little bit but I was on a downhill so I didnt notice.

Whats gasket are you talking about? Wouldn't I still need a torque converter seal as well? Also how do I check the hub and pump?

What are the temps?
What temp does it normally run at and what temp was it when it pucked?

It normally runs about 210 or less. To tell you the truth I was so pissed when it blew I dont remember the temp. I was running about 75 or 80mph with an empty 16' flat deck trailer the first time it puked the second time I dont think the tranny even had time to warm up before it dumped but it still smelt and smoked.

Yea, you definitely need an extra tranny cooler, 210 is way to hot for sustained temps. Mine never gets over 150 now. I got a $120 Trucool 40K cooler mounted on the back of the front bumper and plumbed in series with another 40K cooler in the factory location (Dont’s ask why). The factory 20K plumbed in with the new 40K will make a huge difference in temps. I have heard of several trucks pucking fluid because of high temps but being fine afterwards with just an extra cooler and new fluid and filter. I believe there is a new upgrade seal out now that is supposed to be a lot better.
Mine has never pucked fluid, not even when I got it up over 300* (That was the end of the first tranny)
You can also use a 6.0 cooler which is even bigger than the 40K but its costlier too.

Here is some pics of my stuff for you; Powerstroke tranny pictures by alabamafrog - Photobucket

So can someone link me to the converter seal I need also a list of all the other seals I should replace. Also any install tips would be great.

Alabama Frog- I'm definately going to do the cooler cause it drives fine till it starts getting hot, then it starts loosing fluid.
