Wont shift out of 1st after fluid change
Ok this truck is starting to kill me!!
Just got the truck and took it to the shop to get all the fluids changed. They called me today and said that after they changed the tranny fluid it will not shift out of 1st gear. They are suppose to be trouble shooting it tomorrow. Seemed fine before they changed the fluid. Did they mess something up or is this going to be something easy for them to fix? I sure hope I am not looking at a new tranny ![]() ![]() ![]() It’s a 01 F350 SRW with 160k on it. |

Ok, not to make you feel bad, but I had a 99 f350 7.3L (not the one I have now, the one before it) and I had the tranny flushed at 130,000 miles thinking I was doing some good for the truck.... well 2 days went by after the flush and the tranny blew. The thing just wouldnt move and inch. Before I did the flush it shifted and ran great.... after, well not so well. I swear the flush caused my tranny to go prematurely, I should have never flushed it, I bet I wouldnt have had to rebuilt it if I left it alone.

You may have been better off with just a drain and refill. Although not even attempting to shift out of first may be an electrical issue such as the MLPS (senses what gear you are telling it to be in). I had one go on my lincoln and it wouldn't shift out of second, new $25 part took care of it. You have to be VERY carefull with alignment on this part, the slightest bit out and it will shift all screwey.
