Transmission Fluid Change

hey guys, I recently bought a Sonnax Shift Kit, a Wix Filter, and a many gallons of Amsoil ATF. I want to install the kit, filter, and Amsoil asap. question is: I've heard you can drain the TQ on some of the earlier AT's in these trucks? mine is a 2000 (built October of 1999). is the drain bolt on the TQ obvious/easy to find? At a glance, I did not see it. I'd like to remove as much of the old fluid as possible. thanks.

Dont know about your truck year or if that has anything to do with it, but once you remove the black inspection cover , you may have to roll the TC to find the plug.

I know up till 2001 they had a TC Drain bolt. Easiest way to turn the TC is bump the starter w/ power but I used a big pry bar to turn the TC over.
You can remove the inspection cover and use your hand to feel up in there for it... I've got some pics I'll get them hang on.

by "roll", do you mean fire up the motor and roll it? or can it be rotated by hand? trans in neutral perhaps?

Roll as in use a pry bar on the teeth. Make sure you check for the plug and then "roll" it towards you so you don't have to roll it alot. It's hard, takes a young person or someone pretty strong lol.

Which Sonnax kit did you get. If it's the Shure Cure kit, you just wasted half your money. Most of the kit can't be installed unless the trans is out and apart. Preston

I installed the sonnax tricumulator springs in a few trucks including mine, love the results. Mine does not have a plug in the convertor (trip disk) be sure to mark the convertor so you know when you have been all the way around....
