If it is brake fluid you have bigger problems then you think. Unless you have a manual trans then it could be clutch fluid.

definitely some sort of clear oil substance. It's not fuel, water, trans fluid or oil. Anyone know if brake lines going to the master cylinder might travel over the trans?
Maybe the line sprung a leak and is collecting in that inspection cover?

Come to think of it though, the brakes are only under pressure when you press the brakes right? What other clear fluid would be under pressure when the engine is running other than fuel? (it's definitely not fuel)

If clutch fluid is clear and under pressure when the engine is running, that is probably it. What could cause that?

Check all of your fluids when the truck is cool. You should be able to narrow it down a bit? Keep us posted on your findings. Interesting?

Checked all fluids, they are all up to level which was really confusing...including brake fluid. Big Country SG is probably right...clutch fluid

Anyone know what could cause that? Is this....BAAAAAD news?

The only way it would be brake fluid is if your master cylinder is spraying brake fluid all over the engine. Then it would drip down onto the bell housing working its way inside and dripping out that hole.

You have no brake lines going over your trans. Your brake lines going to the back of the truck run along the driverside frame rail.

It is either diesel fuel that has a destinctive smell. Or it is coolant, if you have clear coolant in your radiator. Then that is what could be dripping out.

Other then that it would be oily water that got inside your bell housing.

You have a 4R100 automatic transmission. So it is not clutch fluid.

appears to be auto trans.

voting for coolant of some sort. catch it in a jar to make sure its clear. then sniff it, touch it, whatever to identify.

are you sure the leak is coming from inside that area and not around it? Looks clean, but who knows.

wow, then back to square one...but it's definitely a clear oil that is literally pouring out when the engine runs.

I justr went out and started the truck...no leaking for about 30 seconds, (time to build up pressure I guess) then a steady stream. It is definitely coming out of that drain hole.
