Anyone got their tranny hot hot

Anyone ever had their tranny so hot that it started puking fluid? is so did you have to replace anything? any issues?

Ended up replacing the trans. But that was from driving it to the shop while it was puking. It was under warranty from ford. So instead of towing it. I filled the trans back up and said it is only 5 miles to the dealer. Trans was shifting fine just was pouring out fluid.

They said the tc was done and put a new trans in from ford. No rebuild complete swap out. Truck had 5,000 miles on it.

My rebuilt one got hot early this summer and puked out of the top. I added another cooler and replaced the by-pass valve. Lowered the temps 20 degrees.

Mine didn’t, but my buddies truck did one time while towing through a mountain road. Do not turn off the truck. Let the truck idle (at a fast idle) in neutral or park to help cool the fluid back down. IF the fluid got that hot, I would change it. Clean, cool, fresh fluid is the best way to get the maximum service life out of any automatic transmission. I installed an external trans cooler (in addition to the stock cooler) and an external trans filter along with a trans temp gauge in my friends truck and now the trans temps always stay under 190 when towing.

Mine got so hot it bypassed the seal on the torque converter. That was in July. I just had John Wood put a Tow Master in last month. I don't daily drive the truck and probably had 1000 miles since I overheated it. Start savin you pennies.

I have had mixed results. On my old '99 F350, the transmission didn't survive.. On two different occasions. On a friend's 2001 F350, they had it puke, and supposedly it lasted just fine.

i hope you changed the fluid after it threw up. if not then its just running with burnt fluid which isnt good

Ya.... I just replaced the front seal and it was fine... I put in a much bigger trans cooler after that though... It all depends on how hot and how long.
