OIL LEAK Question

HI MY DIESEL GODS
here;s the deal .

First I read the tech filles on oil leak .

and know this much its not at turbo or pedistal .
mid engine has some veggie but not engine oil .
at the bottom of engine a find oil on front radator hose
and the suspension not so much on oil pan. or belll
Its like few drops over night . now a 2in stain
i think it only leaks while running ..im thinking the hpop o-rings are leaking
which i guess is beyone me and my vice grips and duct tape ..

if this sounds like i'm on the right track plz tell what the dealership damages should be???? is this 250 . or or

He has the 7.3 and it's either a 99 or 2000 if IIRC.

Hpop Orings are CAKE - do not be scared to do them yourself. You can buy the kit from Ford for about 25-30 bucks or just get some #5 and #6 Boss Orings from a local hydraulic shop. You'll also want some Red Locktite for the fittings.

Let us know more info and if you find the leak. This quote helped me find my oil leak "oil will spray everywhere but forward"

yes hh pressure pump o-rigs are very common on 7.3 , but to be leaking of front of the motor and not out the back makes me wonder if it is possibly front crank seal, oil pump o-ring or even a oil galley plug on the front of the motor , if hpop o-rings are leaking the majority of the oil should be in the valley and dripping out the back of the engine , alot of times it helps to steam engine off and then get a good look at where oil is coming from

Kinda hijacking..

Anyone ever use dye to help find leaks with the help of a blacklight? Is this even available to the public? My Grandfather has an 04 6.0, getting some recall work done a while back he mentioned Ford using a blacklight to search for a leak after adding some particular dye.

I don't see why it wouldnt be available from Ford or even wouldn't be any household dye you can find off the shelf in a store.
