Oil leak?

Hey guys im a newb on the 7.3's.

I owned a F-body for a cople years and did all the mods on that so i am mechanicaly inclined.

Well i just got a 99 F-250 and i got it home and noticed the oil leaking on the ground, the oil looks to be coming out around the starter. I know the starter is not leaking thats just were it looks to be coming from. It leaks quite a bit of oil after its warm and running for a while.

Any ideas???

Thanks-craig

O-rings in the high pressure oil pump on top front of motor or o-rings in the high pressure lines from the pump to the heads are the normal culprits. The oil drains down the valley to the back of the block and through drain holes meant to allow water a way out of the valley. One of the holes exits over the starter so people think because the block is not wet above the starter that the trouble is in the starters vicinity when it’s at the other end of the motor, I did the first time I saw this. Hope that helps.

^^^ What he said. Check the hpop and see if it's leaking under the lines. That's where my leak was.
