2001 7.3 psd stalling problem

This 2001 f250 4x4 is for sale and i am thinking about buying it.
It will start but idles a little rough, not to bad but not right, then it will just
die, but will restart. The guy said that it would not start so he put a used injector control module on it and now it has this problem. Has 182,000 miles
transmission supposed to have been replaced in the 170's. New starter and batteries, any ideas anything would be appreciated.

Cam position sensor sounds like. you might have Injector or injection pressure regulator(IPR) issues. does it have a check engine light? I would have someone look at it that knows diesels before you buy. these things can get expensive!

bought the truck

Wound u buying the truck, replaced the cps, stop dieing on me but has a slight miss at idle and up to about 1200 rpm. Also is smokeing bluish white smoke even at idle and a very strong diesel smell in the smoke like its way to rich. Put some lucas injector cleaner in it and havent got to run enough to see if it helped. Just got it on the 5/3/09 put injector cleaner in ran a little while and shut it off for the night went back this morning and seem to fire up a little easier and maybe ran a little better. Any suggestions? Buy the way does any body know where to get a good scan tool looks like i need to invest in one.

Sounds like you have an injector problem. either its sticking or its not functioning at all. a good one to use is the Auto enginuity. You can get it at ITP diesel.
