New Plugs New Problems
I have a 97 F-350 7.3 turbo diesel and it's my first diesel (I know nothing about diesels). I was having problems with it hiccupping and dying, not restarting. and it was recommended that I change the glow plugs. So, I did and now it starts right up, seems to run fine, but it has lost significant power. It's accelerating very slow and I can barely get it up to 2,500 rpm's. I read another thread that said to check the wiring harnesses on the injectors, but I'm pretty sure I checked them all before finishing. I'll look again, but any ideas?
I'm learning alot about Diesels quickly here, since I've got no choice! Now It's blowing out blue smoke even warmed up. Top RPM's have dropped to 2K. Very slow acceleration. Let's see...I replaced the camshaft position sensor. That seemed to be a problem, but not THE problem. The injectors were replaced about 2 years ago. We may have screwed one up when swapping the glow plugs, but that doesn't really seem to fit, timewise (unless one screwed up injector can fail slowly and progressively causing this bad of a result.). Could this be the fuel or oil pump? A family member made mention to the injector pump.
