How the heck do I remove the HPOP?!
I recently had to swap out the engine of my 2001 E-350.
I have the old engine on a pallet and I have everything off of it down to the core, except for that dang HPOP. I pulled the retaining bolts off, but it's still attached to the gear and I cannot figure out how to get this sucker off of here. I looked around for instructions on HPOP removal, but everyone seems to say it's pretty easy once you get the surrounding parts out. Here's what my situation looks like... |

By "the bolt and spacer" are you referring to the bolt on the gear pictured above? I already have the 2 rear bolts out, and pulled 2 bolts out from above the water pump to expose the bolt on the gear. I got an 18mm socket on it, but as I turn the bolt, the whole gear moves (thus turning the crank and pistons), but the bolt isn't coming loose. The whole HPOP is loose and moves freely rotating around the shaft of that gear... but I can't get it off. I feel like I'm missing something here... |
