Front main seal oil leak?
Howdy. My '92 F150 finally gave up the ghost, so it's time to move up to a diesel.
I'm looking at a few different F350's in the 2000-2003 range. One in particular is fairly nice (2002 Lariat crew cab, 4x4, 100k), except that there is an obvious oil leak from the area of the front main seal. It's not gushing, but it's a definite leak. The block looks dry above there, so I'm pretty sure the leak has to be something right behind or immediately near the pulley. Is there anything in that area that it could be, other than the main seal? Thanks, Joe |

Took it to the closest Ford dealer for an inspection before buying it, and it was the front main seal. The mechanic said that they have an upgraded seal available from Ford, and the seller was willing to adjust the price, so I ended up purchasing it on Wednesday.
