Cold Cranking, Engine Surging, and Smoking Problems
I have a 2002 7.3 L that over the past few weeks has been acting weird when I crank it in the mornings (mostly if the temperature is less than 40 degrees). It has been cranking with a decent amount of white smoke coming from the tailpipe and the engine will surge in RPM's for about 1-3 minutes and then will idle down and run fine. Today, when I went to crank it (~39 degrees), it turns over fine but after about 3 seconds of turning over, it sounds as if it is getting no fuel and will continue to turn over but will not crank and lets out more white smoke than it has been over the last few weeks. I have new batteries and a new alternator (<6 months old) and replaced the fuel filter the first time it did the surging thing, which did not help. I also have had the recall fixed. Thanks for anything that may help.
