balancing the motor

as some of you know, my motor is running low on compression in a couple cylinders, so on and so forth. the worst is 300psi. and they run all the way up to 400. (as far as i know from the compression test the dealership did, i've still yet to do my own)

but it feels as though the motor is unbalanced, and has almost like a skip to it. checked it with the scan tool last night, no unusual codes, and the buzz test and contribution tests all came back great.

aside from the off the shelf additives (dumped some lucas in last night) is there anything that may help balance the motor out so it runs a little smoother? (without pulling the heads and rebuilding the entire motor)

and i guess the second part of the question would be - would the high pressure oil crossover help the problem?

wouldn't hurt. My brother installed one, and it helped his motor idle smoother. I know for a fact that his #8 needs replacing, but it hasn't completely quit, so we haven't gotten around to it. The crossover took a lot of the skip out of it at idle.

do you know or did you notice if the crossover took any of the skip out at road speeds, like normal driving?

It may help a little but I highly doubt it will fix your problem. I don't remember everything about the other thread but I thought we had figured out your problem

haha. there was a bunch in the other thread. yes and no. the problem was fixed because the first guy that replaced the injector never checked one of the bolts that held the injector in for it's proper torque; in fact it was about 1/4" out allowing the injector to float and letting the combustion bypass the copper gaskets. yada yada yada.

the truck has all it's power back, no complaints about that, and absolutely no smoke.

the only problem, or i guess i should say annoyance is a ticking, or a skipping throughout the rpm range. gets real annoying cruising on the highway, i find myself listening to that ticking over the sound of the radio. (and no, turning up the radio doesn't help )

just checked oil pressure, 35ish at idle, 40-45 running the motor up to about 2000rpm.
