Smoke, engine dies, slight knock,... NEED HELP!
Ok here is the back ground info. I drove my truck on a road trip to go duck hunting in IL this Dec. I had visited a relative at about 150 miles out. There I had shut the truck off for 45 min and then unhooked a heavy boat which I had been pulling. The truck started fine and we were on our way again. About 250 miles from my home in TN I decide to stop and get some D-2 because stations were getting farther and farther in between. I had the truck on cruise @ 70mph I bumped the brake to take it off cruise and coasted onto the ramp. Half way around the ramp the truck shut off. I came to a stop, put it in park and tried to restart but the motor just kept turning over. I had the truck towed but it was Sat night around 11:30pm so the truck never made it to a dealership until that Mon. The dealership put a new IDM in it and said that it ran fine. I paid, got the truck back, drove 51 miles away from the dealership and as I was slowing down and breaking for a 4-way stop the truck died again and would not start back. After some heated words with the dealership they towed it back. Upon the second visit they put a high pressure oil regulator on it and test drove 50 miles with no problem. It ran all the way home ok but the second day it was home it did the same thing, always under no accel and at decel. There is no shaking or sputtering it just drops rpms and dies, the only difference is that it restarts right up now. I took it to a local dealership thinking that the two dealerships could work something out since the IL did nothing. The local dealership replaced the ICP sensor and the driver side injector harness. The truck is still doing the same thing!!!!! The parts from the two dealerships total over $3,000 and I've paid for about $2,000 (I got the second fix in IL for free). The truck has been blowing a large amount of white smoke lately and I can here a slight knock on what appears to be the driver side of the motor. To add to that it is not cold starting very well like the glow plugs are not warming but the relay test ok. PLEASE HELP before I drive it off a cliff!!!!
