EBPV Not engaging, I have Codes

Hello all,

Hope someone can help.
I noticed that I haven't heard my EBPV engaging while starting in cold weather lately to assist in warm up. I'm in Alaska, so I want this feature to work.

I have NO other symptoms. No power loss, etc.

I hooked up to the truck with my laptop and got the following codes.

PO470 Exhaust Backpressure Sensor Circuit Fault
PO471 Exhaust Backpressure Sensor Circuit Performance
PO478 Exhaust pressure control valve high input

I've got lots of experience with gas engine repair and maintenance but this is my first diesel truck I've owned. PLEASE be very descriptive of where I will find any component. My Chilton manual wasn't much help on a EBPV.

Thanks,
John

Well, no one here helped, but I was more sucessful at "another" forum.

I'll post what I found for the record in case somone else is looking at this for a solution.

My Exhaust Backpressure Sensor EBS was PACKED with soot, including the tubing that it connects to. A full write up was available online on how to clean this at a website by guzzle
