well what i would want to know is how fast it got to around 60 lbs , if it takes longer than say 10 seconds to build at least that high , the fuel pressure may be bleeding back, im wondering about the one way valves on the end of the heads

I don't think fuel pressure is going to be the issue since the bowl is full. It will run although barely on very little fuel pressure. If the bowl was empty then that would be another story....

Is this a relatively easy check. This is my first powerstroke. I've dealt with glow plugs, relays, and external components, but have not dealt with inside the heads.

like i say im just trying to think in my head if the only time it doesnt crank is after it sits awhile , then im thinkin a bleed down issue with either fuel or oil, the valves im referring to hardly ever go bad , so dont dig to deep there , if i had access to a good scanner that monitored data i would get it hooked up and try to see what was out of spec when engine wouldnt start first , thats the simplest thing to do first

I agree. I will attempt to have it scanned after sitting a few days. The local dealership not to hot. Could you recommend a scanner the could be purchased if this something I have to do myself.
