icp problem

hey guys i pulled the connector off my icp sensor today to do the 10k mod, well when i did i found that there was oil all inside the plug, i dunno but i realy dont think it should be leaking. I replaced the injectors about 2months ago in the truck and put a new icp sensor in at the same time because it was throwing a ICP code. there are no codes now but like i said it just doesnt seem right, not to mention after i cleaned the oil off the connector and put in the resistor, the truck felt no difrent, i tried a 10k and a 5.6 but nothing happened so there has to be something wrong any ideas??

Are you sure you didnt have any oil on the harness that might have tracked it into the sensor?

there shouldnt be any inside the sensor connector. If thee is, then the sensor is leaking, and should be replaced. Even if the sensor portion has not failed.

yeah because the outside of the plug was dry, and i only saw oil when removed the connector.. my thing is what could cause it to leak like that? i mean the thing is almost brand new i dont mind replacing it but i what im trying to figure out is if their is something else causing it to leak not just a bad sensor i dont wanna have to keep replacing the sensors ya know

I hear ya. I just replaced mine. Got one off Ebay for $65

If there is oil inside the sensor connector, then the sensor needs to be replaced. The leak is internal to the sensor.
