Water temp not working..

any one know how the water temp gauge in the dash to work? I have a cummins conversion in a 99 with a 02 P pumped 24V and I was gutting out some unneeded wires in the engine bay and some how the water temp gauge no longer works now. there were two wires that went from two different sensors and they went to a large pin plug in that would go to a computer I think? I'm not sure. can I just wire the two sensors in to the gauge? I didn't want to put another external gauge in my truck I already have enough already.

Thanks for the help.

Gotta hook those sensors back up the way they were. But a simpler option would be to hook an aftermarket temp gauge up
