Boost Issue??
Hi my name is Traci, I'm new to the forum and hoping someone can give info where to go next....
I was running an inline Diablo chip on my 02 f350, I took that out and went with a hypertech programmer (thinking it was the chip causing the problem)but I still had the problem. What happens is.... If I'm pulling, in a real strong wind (not pulling anything) or getting on it pretty hard (pushing 3000rpms) when it's programmed up my check engine light comes on. If I don't back off it and cont. to drive it with the CEL on then I loose a bit of power and if it was a gas engine I would say it almost sounds like it pinging. Drop it below 1800rpms and drive it for a few minutes the CEL goes off and all is well. I have a buddy with a 99 f350 and he said he thought I was getting too much boost (said he believes that when I get too much boost it triggers my map censor that in turn is changing my fuel and what I hearing is the turbo fluttering/stalling) so I bought an ATS ported compressor housing, wicked wheel and a boost relief valve. It's much better but... If towing programmed up my check engine light will still on occasion come on but I don't hear the pinging like noise anymore. I've never gotten a DTC if I check it either. From what I read about the boost relief valve this should have solved my problem. I'm worried about my turbo being dammaged when this goes on. Any thoughts?? Thanks Traci
