Hard start first time

Hey all, I have a newly acquired 01 F-250 7.3 , that runs great. The problem is almost every day on the first start up I have to use a jump. I've replaced both batt's, a GPR, and one ground cable. Turns over but won't start until I use jump, fires off immediately with jump, then usually but not always starts without jump the rest of the day. I'm thinkin high resistance in old cables or starter gettin weak. What say you guy's?

Sounds like you have a draw somewhere. A poorly installed aftermarket alarm is usually the most common culprit.

Thanks for the reply duck fan, I think we were on the same page with some type of voltage or amp draw. I actually found the problem today while changing out the cables. Seems that the load side of starter cable had gotten across one of the connector posts on the starter , and I'm assuming that vibration rubbed thru insulation causing it to ground, actually had burned thru almost 1/3 of the copper strands. Replaced cable, starts like a new truck now...
