Intermittent surging & rough idle

Early 99 F-350 with 268K BONE STOCK right down to the factory exhaust. Noticed the truck was surging while driving home the other day and it had a rough idle when I came to a stop. Borrowed a scan tool from a friend and pulled the following codes: P1690 (wastegate solenoid), P0381 (glow plug circuit malfunction), P0269 Cylinder 3 Contribution/Balance Fault, and P0284 Cylinder 8 Contribution/Balance Fault.
I did some research and everything I read said it was most likely the CPS. I changed the CPS and cleared the codes. Drove the truck about 30 miles and it ran great but when I did a cylinder balance test it still gave me P0284 Cylinder 8 Contribution/Balance Fault. Drove it today and it ran great for about 20 miles and then it started the surging and rough idle again. I did a full scan, buzz test, and cylinder balance and the only thing I got was P0284 Cylinder 8 Contribution/Balance Fault but after about 5 miles it smoothed out and ran fine again.

There are a lot of things that can cause ur problems I don't put any confidence in codes there are things that need to be addressed in the fuel system of these trucks right of the bat before u can really diagnose anything. The filter inside the tank needs to be removed and replaced with a spin on before the pump. Once that's done then u can start diagnosing but most roads on these powerstrokes lead to injector problems everyone will tell u to just spend 1500 on a rebuilt set but u can pm me or call me and I can give u another option and try to help u get ur truck running like it should
