CPS Problem??
Ok guys see if y'all can help me out. One of my buddies is looking to buy a 2000 PSD. its a F-350 4x4, Supercab, LB, Dually with the Auto. We went to look at it on the lot today at lunch. We pulled up and the guy said it was not running. They had sold it to a dealer in east texas, drove it to the dealer then the deal there fell through. Had to be towed back to here (keller). Asked him a few questions he had not a clue as to what it could be. Fired it up and it has a terrible idle. Really rough, with a somewhat responsive throttle. The SES light is not coming on and it seems to me that it is just the cam sensor. N-E-hoo the lot is sending it off to the shop to be fixed so I was just wondering if maybe someone else might have anything. Also it only has 52000 miles. Oil level was good, coolant was good. Air filter was a little dirty but nothing that should cause that.
thanks! |

I think I would see if he would let me put a code reader on it and see what comes up. might be able to make a lowball offer based on what you find and then possibly fix it yourself. If he is that clueless then he wont know what repairs would cost.

Does sound like a CMP sensor, some symptoms that I have noticed lately have been stalls, restarts with no SES/Codes in computer, replace CAM sensor and you should be good to go....
