Computer swapping question

I have a 2000 7.3 2wd and was wondering what numbers need to match up for a new/different computer to work. I hope damage can be invisible because my computer board looks perfect. Mine is a NVK4, DPC-422, XCF-12A650-BF.
Should I just have it fixed or buy a new one.

Well if you find out you need to buy a new one get the DPC-422. Then Have it flashed for the PMT1 software. BTW, you'll need a VIN from an '01 if you flash it at a dealer that actually knows what to do. The PMT1 has much better transmission shifting characteristics.
