02 7.3 randomly shuts down

Hello all,
First time posting, but I have gotten a pile of good info from here. I'll get right to it. I have a 2002 f250 7.3 with 136,000 miles and only a few mods. For the past 2 weeks, my truck has randomly shut down on me. No sputtering, just like you turn off the key. There is no pattern to it, other than it has gotten progressively worse. It has idled in the driveway for hours with no problem and it has fired up, ran for 5 minutes and shut down. I have shut it down myself and immediately start back over and over with no problem and have tried the same and it not start. Motor hot or cold has no effect.
Things I've tried-
-3 different cps, 2 cheap, 1 grey motorcraft. (Had cps recall done in 09)
-No oil in icp, unplugged icp when motor wouldn't start, crank but no start.
-pulled and cleaned ipr valve
-checked hpop oil level multiple times, always good.
-changed hpop oil, when ipr was cleaned.
-changed oil
-unhooked dp tuner, nothing modified electrically.
-shook every wire under the hood with truck running.
-hooked up 2 snap on computers with no codes showing
-ran injector tests with computers, set no codes, passed the test.
Any input from anyone would be appreciated.
I have been stuck on the side of the road twice now, with 2 small children. It's not an enjoyable experience for any of us.

No Codes? No SES?

I'd be thinking something like IDM maybe.... Start with swapping the IDM relay because it's easy.

You still get a WTS when trying to restart? (to know it's not a PCM issue)

You have any kind of tuning you could remove as a Test?

First question, did you have the wipers going intermittent? Second, did you change cps pigtail, a weak wire will produce same symptoms as bad cps.

First off, thanks for the quick responses.
No codes. No SES. I haven't even thought about the IDM relay. It would make sense. I will look into that. I do still get the WTS light. I did take my DP Tuner off, with no good change. (Was hoping it was the tuner), that's an excuse to try another.
The wipers have not played a part in the shut offs at all. No rain until today. It's been doing this for 2 weeks. I didn't change the cps pigtail, which is another good option. I did inspect the plug and trace the wires back and found nothing damaged. I may try to ohm those out tonight.
Thanks again for responding, I will keep updating if I change anything or if I somehow get it fixed.

Update-
Pulling my DP Tuner was the last thing I tried 2 days ago. My truck has not shut off since. It has been on my truck without ever removing it for over 7 years. Has anyone ever heard of a tuner just going bad?

I had a similar issue with my DP tuner. Intermittently just shut down. Would run fine without it. I looked at the actual circuit board and found a cold solder joint on one of the flat pack ICs. Literally used a microscope to find it (I am an elect. tech). Reflowed the solder and never looked back.

I have the same issues (minus me trying to fix anything like you did) and I believe it directly relates to my DP Tuner as well. Intermittent loss of power. Sometimes bumps, sometimes backing up into a snow bank, sometimes starting, sometimes just going into reverse or stopping... but never while I was driving straight. I just cleaned the connection on my PCM with some sand paper. I'll let ya know if it helps with the problem.

It has been over a week since I pulled the chip, and not one shut down. I will look over the circuit board a little closer. Thank everyone for all their input.

DP sure is getting some bad press on here lately. engine failures, random shutdowns, incompatability with HID lights, transmission failures..... bad attitudes

we almost need a DP tuner problems sticky....

They sure have. I've been happy with my DP Tuner for the last 7 years, until 3 weeks ago. I've never heard anything bad about em, till my problem. Nothing lasts forever. This gives me a reason to try something different.
