Missing Cylinder

When I took my truck in to the shop recently, the mechanic told me (as I was picking it up) that the No. 7 cylinder was missing. He though it could be either wiring harness or the injector. What's more common? Any way to tell if the wiring harness is bad? It's an early '99 7.3L. Thanks.

most likley an injector, if it was the harness it would most likely set a code and check engine light
