EBPV control?

What all tells the EBPV to close in cold weather? I thought it was the intake air temp but I have also been told its the engine oil temp...I would really like clarification on this because it was 2 techs at 2 dealers that gave me the 2 different stories! Another guy said it is tied into the exhaust back pressure sensor too...not even 100% sure what that sensor does either lol
Thanks!!!

The Exhaust back pressure valve is actuated by the PCM, but the parameters monitored to actuate it are definitely from the EBP sensor, and...either EOT or IAT, I would guess.

All the sensor does is senses the Exhaust back pressure from a small tube that runs from the exhaust to the front of the engine. Its only purpose is to close the valve. If it's unplugged, then the valve wont do anything. I've had mine unplugged for months. No problems.

Thanks! I suspect IAT is likely...it's so cold that with the performance Intercooler and AFE stage2 my IAT was showing -16 degrees! I came up with a mod for the heat shield I hope will draw in warm air from the engine bay...

-16 degrees? Wow. I'm sort of oblivious to this cold weather all around me, living in Florida. It's been 80's here non-stop. I can't stand it. Either way, best of luck to you and your hopefully fruitful efforts!
