Intermittent idle mode

So over the past month or two, the truck has been entering into idle mode while under acceleration. When it happens, the MIL light comes on, truck goes into idle (not shutting down) and no response from accelerator. After 3-4 seconds, I get throttle response and truck is back to normal.

Searching points to a possible Idle Validation Switch (IVS) issue. So I hooked up Autoenginuity and monitored the IVS as well as the Accelerator Pedal Position (APP). I was hoping to see the IVS signal change state during periods of acceleration. This morning, on the highway, symptom occurred and I did NOT see the IVS signal change while at partial throttle.

Where do I look next?

Thanks.

This issue is getting worse. Replaced the accelerator pedal assembly ruling out the IVS. Put in a new CPS as well. Problem is bad for the first 15 minutes then it stops. Today, it probably went to idle 20-25 times in the first 5 minutes then gradually tapered to where it wouldn't happen again. Releasing the throttle to zero 'resets' it until it falls flat to idle and the dash lights up.

Any ideas fellas?

My truck is doing the same thing. The check engine light comes on while the problem is occuring. When I checked the code I got P0221 which is no accelerator response and is supposed to be an issue with the wiring in OD. I checked for blown fuses..none. Pulled apart the steering column and looked at the wiring harness to the OD and I can't see any signs of wear. I'm at an impasse for this issue, if you or someone else has resolved it, I would like to know!

Thanks

Check the harness that goes from the IDM to the injectors as it passes over the valve cover. Mine was chaffing and was shorting out. It eventually took out my IDM. The intermittent idle mode never came back after I eliminated the short.

Not sure if it was the cause of my issue, but it may have well been. As well, my issue was worse in the winter, so time will tell once the temps start dropping. Fingers crossed....
