Exhaust Leak
ok guys so from research i've discovered that my exhaust leak is do to missing bolts from the turbo. 1. with these bolts missing should i be concerned about any kind of damage? 2. What is the size/tpi of the bolt that I need to replace it with? 3. Any special torque/high temp thread lock/antisieze that I need to use when replacing these bolts? 4. Is this common among these turbos??
Attached is a picture of the bolts that I am talking about. Please forgive me for the crudeness of the circles?? It is the two bolts on the top side of the flange that are missing. the two bottom bolts are still in place. Ok so my picture won't upload at the moment. Let me try again in a few minutes ![]() OK lets see if this works now. ![]() FYI the two bolts circled are not the 2 missing. I circled them to point out what bolts i'm talking about. Also this is a picture I found on the net. Last edited by MrJohnWayne; 11-06-2006 at 05:47 PM. |

Here ya go ford ssm:
99-2001Turbo Bolts Loose/Missing: In some cases the bolts attaching the turbine housing to the center section of the turbo may be loose or missing. There are revised bolts available in kit # 1C3Z-9G486-AA. These bolts have locking threads on them to help prevent them from backing out. The bolts should be torqued to 300 in/lbs in a cross pattern. |
