Oil pressure light on/low gauge reading sensor?

I have a 2001 Ford E350 box truck with the 7.3. The other day while driving the low oil pressure light came on and the gauge dropped. It then returned to normal. It dropped again today and stayed that way. I have parked the truck to be safe. There seemed to be plenty of pressure to supply the HPOP and injectors. There was no change in performance, no stalling and the oil level was normal. My thoughts are the pressure sensor or gauge. Anybody else have this issue? I was told if my oil pressure dropped too low, that the HPOP would not have enough oil to keep the injectors running.

Time to get it hooked to a scan tool that can data log and see what is going on. The AE is a affordable option or post for someone in your area that may be willing to scan it for you.
