Flickering Battery Light

Is there a chronic problem with the positive batt cable (dual harness) clamp on the pass-side battery in these trucks breaking down, or softening? I've seen several (including mine when I bought it) with a screw lodged between the post and clamp to secure the connection. I removed it, tightened the clamp as best as I could. The lead is soft. Then I replaced both batteries, and the plug on top of alternator, and even put an adapter on the clamp, but batt light still flickers. Thinking I'll finally have to buy new positive cable harness for that battery. Does anyone here have experience where this fixed the flickering light? Thanks!!
