Turbo whistling?

2001 F250 7.3 auto, bought new, has a western diesel chip & boost tube in vac line going to waste gate. I was pulling a trailer weighing about 10,000 lbs up a grade, trans down shifted, engine rpm up, 1 loud pop & a whistling sound started. no more pop, whistles now on acceleration & pulling loads, is the waste gate stuck, truck still runs real good. went on a 1800 mile trip up hills & down with a 7000 lb trailer @ 75 just a whistling. What should I look for?
Steve

I don't know exactly what popped , I would say a possible boost leak, but if it was a bad enough leak then the power would be down at least some

Check your intercooler boots. One of them most likely popped off and is loose. As mentioned, you should see a decrease in power though.
