Tapping lifter

My 99 7.3 has devloped what sounds like a tapping lifter at idle, accel. and deaccel. Is there any additive that might help free it up?
It mainly does it after warmed up. I only have 565,000 on motor.
Can lifters ne replaced without head removal? and bad effects if I just let it tap?

is that all, in miles? Congrats man. May want to look into the FRx and/or hutch mod, to eliminate air intrusion.

Remove the oil cap while idling and see if theres pressure coming from it. Just bellowing smoke is fine, but you dont want pressure behind it.
