water pump questions

Prepping for long haul across country. 01 F250 manny tranny has 153K on it, and original water pump AFAIK. I want to purchase pump and any necessary other parts as e-spares for the trip. Besides the pump, what else do I need? Upper/lower hoses, water outlet, gaskets t-stat, anything else? O-rings, grommets, sandbags, winches, catapults, divining rods, explosives...?

Follow up - Rockauto has several different brands. The Motorcraft i$ $ub$tantially more expen$ive than the other brands, about double or more. Bosch is about half the price of the Motorcraft, and Airtex is about 3/4 of the Bosch price. I know there's lots of Bosch parts OEM on the truck, so....recommendations?

It's been a long time since I did mine, and looks like I will be doing it again this summer sometime. Don't remember the bolt size on the pump, but check it and make sure you have the correct size and a stubby ratched for the tight spaces. As I remember the the "big" deal with changing it out is using a fan tool (loaner) to get the fan nut off (again, it's been 6 years or so).

Regarding the pump. Some folks say the airtex is the original pump. I'm expecting to buy the airtex in a month or so, but I do not have any infor other than what some posters are saying.

Good luck.

I got mine from autozone. Lifetime warranty(stores are everywhere if you need one), it comes with the lower neck. You will need t-stat, t-stat housing, i would get upper ambulance hose. Check your fan while you are taking it off. Get a buddy to tighten belt with 1/2" ratchet while you loosen fan(1 7/8" wrench i think)
