2003 7.3 idm code

I have a2003 7.3 runs like crap when cold and seems like should have more power at all times. I just purchased the truck so am kinda in the dark. The code it throws is an idm code will a faulty idm cause these symptoms? Any help appreciated

Here's what you're going to find though,,,

A 1316 is NOT really a specific trouble code. What it's telling you is that the IDM wants to have a Buzz Test performed so it can resolve a Specific Code. Unfortunately, you need a diagnostic tool capable of performing that test. It does NOT, necessarily, mean the IDM is bad, just that it sees an issue with firing the injectors. It's not uncommon for it to be a simple as a partially unplugged UVCH connector or chafed wiring and as complicated as water in the IDM itself...
